Author Biography

Huib Cornielje, Enablement

Huib Cornielje is the Editor-in-Chief of the Disability, CBR & Inclusive Development (DCID) Journal. He is also the Director of Enablement, Netherlands. He has been Disability Advisor for the Netherlands Leprosy Relief since 2008. He is also a lecturer in Public Health at the University for Applied Sciences in Leiden, the Netherlands. Earlier, Mr. Cornielje worked for over 10 years in various rehabilitation programmes in South Africa. As Director of Enablement, Mr. Cornielje is involved in training and research in the field of disability and development. He was a co-founder of the Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development (DCDD), and served on its Board for several years. Trained as a physical therapist, Mr. Cornielje’s main area of interest lies in community-based rehabilitation, with a particular focus on monitoring and evaluation of CBR programmes. He has contributed to sections of the new CBR Guidelines. More recently, he was involved in formulating and teaching on courses in Disability and Development at VU University, Amsterdam.
