Abstract

ABSTRACT Purpose: The lives of individuals with locomotor disabilities are often filled with challenges and obstacles. Disability has become a more observable societal reality; social fencing practices limit the lives of people with disabilities, and those who lack social agency structurally are unable to enjoy a life course. According to studies on locomotive impairment with inclusion and Quality-of-Life, they encounter social issues as a result of an unbalanced social institutions. In this context, this study throws light on the issues that people with locomotive impairment confront, particularly in terms of their perceived quality of life. Method: Descriptive research design were employed by using semi-structured interview schedule. The simple random sampling technique was useful to reach 98 persons with locomotor disability in Tamil Nadu specifically in Dharmapuri district. Further, the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study sample are discussed in detail. Results: The consequences of disability vary depending on a person's gender, age, marital status, family size, and social support network. They are frequently judged solely on their flaws and are denied social participation, lowering their quality of life. Findings from the study indicate that persons with locomotor impairments are financially disadvantaged; they are mostly low-income and jobless. Further, Health-related quality of life includes domains such as physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being that have an impact on attaining a good standard of living. Conclusion and Implications: The construction plays a vital role in a disadvantaged environment that leads to impairment to the disability with the maximum inconvenience. At the outset, financial dependency on the pension scheme of the government seems high in the study area. Hence, awareness for persons with locomotor disabilities, on accessible and affordable opportunities can be given to them based on their physical or mental abilities.
